I recently got an email from a relative of George Rufle. I'm hoping to get some background info and a photo of him to post here in the near future. In the meantime here's a clip of George's animation from 'A Wolf in Sheik's Clothing'. (1948)
This drawing by Jack Ozark was auctioned on ebay.

I like that Jack chose to draw Popeye (apart from the white sailor hat) in the same style as his Bowsky/Johnson crew days while working at the Fleischer Studio.

Anyone know who drew this model sheet from Puppet Love?? (Facebook friends are not allowed to answer this question)

Is it me, or I see a name on that model sheet? I think the name is Jack Willis(???).
This looks like a Tyer model sheet.
But, I'm not excluding the possibilities this being drawn by Solomon or Henning
Before I answer I'll wait for some more guesses. I believe Jack Willis was an assistant animator who, according to Joe Oriolo, was found dead on a park bench.
Are there any news about George Rufle? It's been past 4 months now...
I'm waiting to hear back from the family member who contacted me.
Thank you for posting the name Jack Willis. I have a full-color drawing done by him of a nurse Betty Boop holding a small Popeye in her arms, signed and dated by Jack Willis to my mother. I've never been able to learn anything about him.
Hi Lyn - would you be able to send me a picture of the drawing??
